The Speed Rocket is a hidden vehicle in The Simpsons: Hit & Run. It is only obtainable in Level 1. While this car is only available to the player in Level 1, it can be driven in any of the other levels of the game using the All Cars cheat.

Description

The Speed Rocket is a white one-seated rocket car with a light-blue front and a dark blue nose. The vehicle operates on three wheels — one in the front used for steering and two mounted to the chassis on the back for stability support. On top of the driver's cabin, the Speed Rocket has a small light blue fin displaying a white flame to help with aero dynamics during high speeds. While in forward motion, the rocket car shoots a large lilac flame out of its exhaust to reach its incredibly high speeds.

Tips

The Speed Rocket has the highest top speed and acceleration in the game, even among other five star vehicles in this regard. On the in-game speedometer, the Speed Rocket can go up to 250 units.

However, the Speed Rocket's jaw dropping power is counterbalanced by poor handling, a long hitbox, and extreme fragility. A single crash is enough to emit smoke from the Speed Rocket, and as such, great care must be taken when driving the Speed Rocket.

Internally, the Speed Rocket has a toughness stat of 0.3. This is extremely low even compared to to other fragile cars like the Open Wheel Race Car, which has a toughness of 1.0.

The Speed Rocket is also very lightweight and is easily pushed around by traffic vehicles. Driving into another vehicle will drastically reduce the car's speed and may even bring it to a standstill.

Unlike most vehicles, the Speed Rocket emits smoke out of its exhaust rather than its front when damaged. This can significantly impact visibility, making crashes more likely. Switching to the bumper cam can help with avoiding further damage when the car is smoking.

When destroyed, the Speed Rocket completely disappears and does not leave behind a burnt wreck. However, collecting a spanner on foot will still repair the car in this state.

The Speed Rocket can be entered into the DMV and Wager races, though it is extremely difficult to manage turns and for the car to survive either race. This makes for a quite a fun challenge to come back to later in the game, but should be totally avoided for beginners.

How-To

The Speed Rocket is found only in Level 1. It is located outside the Solid Gold House in the richer area of Springfield, beside the "Vote for Mayor Quimby" sign. The house can be found at the vertex of the U-turn between Mr. Burns' mansion and the gas station by the draw bridge.

• The Speed Rocket is owned by Chester J. Lampwick who lives in the mansion of solid gold where the vehicle can be found.
• The Speed Rocket made its first appearance in the episode "The Day the Violence Died".
• The Speed Rocket bears a strong resemblance to the Blue Flame, a rocket-powered land speed racing vehicle that achieved a world land speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah on October 23, 1970.
